Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) Released

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, codenamed Precise Pangolin and released today, is a Long Term Support (LTS) version, scheduled to be supported for five years. The emphasis for an LTS release is normally on consolidation and stability, but there are several new features — notably the HUD (Head-Up Display).
 As with most Ubuntu releases, Precise Pangolin takes the opportunity to rev the Linux kernel version; the Unity interface also advances to version 5.10 and there are a number of cosmetic tweaks plus a new sound theme.

Linux Kernel 3.4 First Release Candidate (rc1) Available For Testing

Couple of weeks ago we got Linux Kernel 3.3 final. Just after two weeks of this release Linus Torvaldas announced the immediate availability of the the first release candidate (rc1) of Linux Kernel 3.4. According to the release note by Torvaldas - "If you actually counted, it has only been 13 days. And if somebody delayed their pull request until the last day of the merge window, I'm sure they'll be even happier to delay it another two months until the next merge window. Yay! That said, there are four pull requests in my mailbox that weren't delayed, and that I will (probably) still pull, but that I wanted to get extra confirmation from *other* maintainers from first. So they were sent in time, I just decided that I can make the actual pull choice a bit later.

Facebook Application For iOS & Android Have Security-Hole Which Allows Identity Theft

 

 

Facebook users again under risk.  Recently a new security vulnerability found in Facbook application for iOS & Facebook application for Android. Researcher app developer Gareth Wright, who discovered the issue, said it comes down to Facebook’s native apps for the two platforms not encrypting your login credentials, meaning they can be easily swiped over a USB connection, or more likely, via malicious apps.
